To commemorate the 6th (sixth) anniversary of the Pediatric Eye Center and National Children’s Day, Unhas Hospital held Coloring and Ranking Satu Competitions which was attended by elementary school students throughout Makassar City. This event is a form of support and attention from the eye department, especially the Pediatric Subdivision and the Community Ophthalmology Subdivision, of Eye Department, Unhas Medical Faculty.
On the same day, July 23, 2022, a brief children’s eyes health counseling was also held, not only for children but also for teachers and children’s parents. Because we all know that the attention of parents and teachers is important in the growth development and health of children’s eyes.
This event was also attended by Pertuni (Indonesian Blind Association) who performed two songs, Merah Putih and Aku Pasti Bisa. The presence of Pertuni adds to the celebration of the sixth PEC anniversary.
PEC or Pediatric Eye Center is a children’s eye health facility that does not only focus on services for children’s eye diseases, it has also integrated Low Vision services. “This has become one of the prides of Eastern Indonesia Region, because it is the first Children Eye Service Center in the Eastern Indonesia”, explained Committee Chairman and Unhas Hospital Ophthalmologist, dr. Ahmad Ashraf, Sp. M(K). This activity will become a routine activity in welcoming the PEC anniversary and National Children’s Day he added.
