As one of the series of commemorations for 66th Anniversary of Hasanuddin University, Hasanuddin University Hospital held Inauguration Ceremony for the the newly constructed Intensive Care Unit – Communicable Diseases Building. The hospital received a grant from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to build the ICU as assistance in dealing with Covid-19 and other infectious diseases. The new facility is an ICU room with negative pressure which functions to reduce the transmission of Covid-19 or other infectious diseases, said the Director of Unhas Hospital, Dr. dr. St. Maisuri T. Chalid, Sp.OG (K).
The ceremony was held in the front yard of the ICU Building, at September 1st 2022, also attended by PT. Japanect Consultant Indonesia who is in charge of developing the ICU facilities and infrastructure.
The building is officially Inaugurated by Hasanuddin University Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa., M.Sc. He welcomed the new ICU for Communicable Diseases at Unhas Hospital and hoped that it could be a model for health services development in the city of Makassar. As the ICU has been equipped with telemedicine that functions as communication tool between medical personnel in Japan and patients in Indonesia, especially in Makassar City.
